About This Swedish Delicacy

Pannkakor are Sweden's answer to crepes - thin, delicate pancakes that are a cornerstone of Swedish home cooking. Every Thursday, many Swedish families enjoy pannkakor as a traditional dinner, often following the weekly ärtsoppa (pea soup).

These pancakes are typically served with lingonsylt (lingonberry jam) and vispgrädde (whipped cream). Some families prefer the classic combination of sugar and lemon juice. In Skåne, they're often served with bacon as "pannkakor med fläsk."

Pro tip: Use a special pannkakspanna (Swedish pancake pan) if you can find one at second-hand stores - it makes perfectly thin pancakes every time!
